Youth Ministry on Blast

The FMZ Youth Ministry seeks to help our youth navigate life in the context of their Christian faith. One way this is done is through our “Bible Study for Life,” which is held on Wednesday nights from 7:40 to 8:30 p.m.

Currently, we are focusing on the ministry of Jesus. One of the most common ways Jesus communicated spiritual truths was through “parables.” Parables are stories that use everyday people and situations to illustrate an idea about God or God’s values. Some parables are challenging to understand but offer valuable life lessons.  One parable we reviewed is found in Luke 11: 5-11 and is commonly known as the “Ask, Seek and Knock” parable. This parable teaches us that sometimes we need to be “persistent” in our prayers. God will always answer our prayers. The caveat is the prayer may not answered the way we like or in the time frame we expect. God will respond in a way that lines up with his character and what is best for us.

Lessons in navigating life can also come through “play.” Our “First Friday” on May 3, 2024, focused on fun and teamwork. Youth team members had to guess certain biblical words based on clues given by one of their team members. Later they participated in “traveling ball” and traveling hoola hoop relay races. In each case, team members had to work together to complete the tasks. Lots of laughter occurred. Congratulations to the “Brothers and Sisters” team, which won the night with the most points.

Thank you to the dedicated youth ministry supporters who helped make this and other Youth Ministry events possible. If you have a heart to work with our youth, please join us. Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to join us as we grow in our faith, grow together, and have fun!
