Rehearsal Times
The two Tuesday evenings leading up to the 2rd Sunday of each month at 7PM. The First Mount Zion Women’s Choir is comprised of the adult women of First Mount Zion. These women are the Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, Deaconess, Ushers, Nurses and other ministry workers of First Mount Zion. Yet, despite all else they do, and because of their love of God, these ladies come together to bear witness through the ministry of song. The Women’s Choir will bless your heart and soul while singing songs that range in style from “Old Negro Spirituals” to contemporary Gospel. The Lord has truly blessed the Women’s Choir. They continue to be excited and enthusiastic about singing for Him. They also enjoy the fellowship amongst the Choir. In keeping with the belief that their excitement and beautiful music should be shared with those outside the walls of First Mount Zion, the Choir has been invited to travel with the Pastor on numerous occasions, ministered in Arcadia, CA to the Rio Hondo Preparatory School, participated in the Christmas Musical, “An Evening in December,” and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest. In 2007, working with the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, the Choir traveled to Rome, Italy where they performed in several communities in Northern Italy, including the Aviano Air Force Base. In February 2010, the choir participated in a Black History Month gospel celebration at Fort Myer Memorial Chapel. Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor was in attendance. The Women’s Choir is excited and eager to continue sharing their love of GOD through song. The Women’s Choir continues to grow under the direction of Sister Ronnette Rollins.
